About Lindsay Young, MD

Dr. Lindsay Young is a board certified vascular and interventional radiologist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is an assistant professor of radiology and an attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures that treat patients with less pain, fewer risks, and shorter recovery times than traditional surgery. A major focus of Dr. Young's practice is women's health. She has extensive experience performing uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), a nonsurgical treatment for uterine fibroids that can relieve heavy bleeding and pain while preserving the uterus. Dr. Young also diagnoses and treats pelvic congestion syndrome, a common but often overlooked cause of chronic pelvic pain in women, helping patients find relief through targeted, minimally invasive procedures.Dr. Young is highly skilled in interventional oncology, using advanced imaging and catheter-based techniques to treat cancer throughout the body. She cares for patients with primary and metastatic liver cancer, as well as tumors in the kidney and other organs. Her treatments—such as Y90 radioembolization, histotripsy, and tumor ablation—are designed to target cancer precisely while minimizing side effects and preserving quality of life.In addition to women's health and cancer care, Dr. Young treats a wide range of conditions including osteoarthritis, blood clots (deep vein thrombosis), and complex liver and vascular conditions such as portal hypertension. Dr. Young received her medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. She went on to complete an Integrated Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she served as chief resident. Prior to her medical training, Dr. Young received a Bachelor of Science with distinction from the University of Wisconsin with majors in genetics and philosophy. She is board certified in both diagnostic and interventional radiology.Dr. Young regularly presents her scientific research at national conferences and has authored numerous scientific research articles in national and international medical journals on topics that include management of complex hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the use of liquid embolic for peripheral arterial applications, and radial access techniques for peripheral arterial interventions. Additionally, Dr. Young is dedicated to promoting gender diversity in interventional radiology, as seen through her published articles and participation in mentoring aspiring medical students interested in this field.
