About Leonardo Liberman, MD
Leonardo Liberman, MD, MS is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist and pediatric cardiac electrophysiologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias) in infants, children, adolescents, and young adults, including those with congenital heart disease. With more than 25 years of experience, he is dedicated to providing compassionate, family-centered care and works closely with patients and families to explain complex heart conditions, answer questions, and develop individualized treatment plans.Dr. Liberman earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in Argentina. After moving to the United States, he completed his pediatric internship and residency at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey, followed by fellowship training in pediatric cardiology and advanced fellowship training in pediatric cardiac electrophysiology at Columbia University. He also earned a Master of Science in Biostatistics from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, further strengthening his expertise in clinical research and evidence-based patient care.Dr. Liberman cares for children with a wide range of heart rhythm conditions, including supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, long QT syndrome, heart block, inherited arrhythmias, and rhythm disorders associated with congenital heart disease. He performs advanced electrophysiology studies and catheter ablation procedures, manages pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and specializes in helping children safely return to their normal activities with the most effective and minimally invasive treatments available.As Director of Pediatric Electrophysiology and Medical Director of the Pediatric Exercise Laboratory at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, Dr. Liberman leads programs dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders in children. He has helped advance the field through innovative research, including studies of inherited arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death prevention, catheter ablation, and implantable cardiac devices. His work has contributed to national and international guidelines and has improved the care of children with heart rhythm disorders around the world.In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Liberman is a Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is deeply committed to education and mentorship. He has trained many pediatric cardiologists and electrophysiologists who now practice at leading children's hospitals across the United States and internationally.
