About Louis H. Weimer, MD
Dr. Louis H. Weimer is a Professor of Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center. A graduate of Emory School of Medicine, he completed residency training in Neurology at the The Neurological Institute of New York, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, serving as chief resident in his final year. Dr. Weimer completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular disease also at Columbia.
Dr. Weimer directs the EMG laboratory and the Clinical autonomic laboratory and co-directs the Columbia Neuropathy Research Center. His clinical and research interests include autonomic and small nerve fiber function, dysautonomia, peripheral neuropathy, neurologic causes of syncope, and autonomic failure syndromes. Other special interests include neuropathy from medications and toxins, entrapment neuropathies, Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic syndrome and various other neuromuscular disorders.
Dr. Weimer previously served on the board of directors of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine and is on the national medical advisory board for the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association. He is a counsel member of the UCNS accreditation board. He is the chair of the quality assurance committee for the department of neurology. He has written numerous papers, book chapters, and review articles and reviews papers for several medical journals and is a section editor for Medlink Neurology and Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports.
In addition to patient testing, Dr. Weimer sees patients in consultation, in most instances patients with various forms of autonomic dysfunction, peripheral neuropathy, and neuromuscular disorders.
