About Taylor B. Sewell, MD, MBA
I am a pediatric hospitalist and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). I received my MD from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in healthcare management from The Wharton School. After graduating from pediatrics residency at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, I joined the faculty at Columbia. My research focuses on the patient's experience of healthcare and the healthcare professional's experience of providing that care, and I also help lead the patient experience strategy as the medical director of patient experience for CUIMC. My dedication to the patient experience has been recognized with invitations to join the advisory committees of multiple international patient experience organizations. In addition to my patient experience work, I co-instruct an interdisciplinary course at Columbia Business School that enrolls MBA candidates as well as health professions students from the medical, nursing, dental, and public health schools. My engagement with students extends to include my role as faculty advisor for the medical school's LGBTQ+ student organization. My pronouns are he/him/his.
