About Sloane Heller, MD
Dr. Heller is a neurohospitalist and Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She completed medical school at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Dr. Heller followed this with residencies in internal medicine and neurology at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she served as the chief resident for research. Her clinical expertise includes management of acute neurologic illness, care of medically complex patients with neurologic disease, and neurologic complications of systemic disease.
She additionally serves a teaching role working with residents and advanced practice providers in the inpatient setting.
Research:
Dr. Heller's research is focused on cognitive impairment secondary to systemic disease. Her work aims to identify novel cognitive impairment syndromes occurring in non-neurologic illness and uncover the underlying pathophysiology of this brain - periphery connection. She currently focuses on cognitive impairment in pulmonary hypertension, liver disease and organ transplant recipients.
