About Sean Duane Kalloo, MD
Dr. Sean Kalloo is an Associate Professor of Medicine (in Radiology) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and a leading expert in interventional nephrology and home dialysis. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and subsequently went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at North Shore University Hospital. He then pursued fellowship training in nephrology at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, followed by an additional year of specialized training in hemodialysis vascular access procedures.Dr. Kalloo is the only interventional nephrologist at CUIMC and serves as the Director of Interventional Nephrology. His expertise extends to outpatient dialysis, where he previously directed home dialysis modalities and now serves as the Director of Outpatient Dialysis Operations. Additionally, he is the Medical Director of the Program for Prevention and Education in Advanced Kidney Disease (PEAK), which focuses on patient education and care coordination for individuals with chronic kidney disease, guiding them toward kidney transplantation.In his role as the Medical Director of the Rogosin Institute at Methodist Home dialysis facility, Dr. Kalloo continues to provide exceptional care to patients with end-stage kidney disease. He remains actively engaged in performing endovascular procedures and collaborates closely with interventional radiology fellows, providing hands-on training in advanced vascular access techniques.A sought-after speaker and educator, Dr. Kalloo has delivered over 100 lectures nationwide on home dialysis and endovascular interventions for patients with kidney disease.
