About Sara Mobasseri Egoavil, MD
Dr. Sara Mobasseri Egoavil is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology practicing at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is board certified in Adult Cardiovascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Adult Echocardiography and has extensive experience in academic Medicine, clinical expertise in Cardiology and a strong record of leadership in Echocardiography. Dr. Mobasseri Egoavil began her academic career at Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She subsequently received her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. Following medical school, she completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency, as well as her Cardiology fellowship, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she also pursued dedicated training in advanced cardiac imaging including echocardiography, interventional echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and Level II cardiac CT. Upon completing her formal training, Dr. Mobasseri Egoavil joined Northwestern University as an Associate Professor and established the Women's Heart Program at Northwestern and Evanston Hospitals in Chicago. She later served as a Clinical Professor at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and held multiple leadership roles at Graduate Hospital, including Fellowship Site Director, Director of Cardiology, and Director of Noninvasive Imaging. In 2005, Dr. Mobasseri Egoavil joined Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, and in 2008 she became part of the newly created Piedmont Heart Institute, one of the largest private healthcare networks in Georgia, comprising more than 26 hospitals and over 2,100 clinical locations. Throughout her time at Piedmont, she remained active in the structural and valvular heart disease space, participating in both commercial and research trials. In July 2013, she launched Piedmont's Women's Heart Prevention Program, a reflection of her longstanding dedication to women's cardiovascular health. Building on this foundation, Dr. Mobasseri Egoavil then assumed leadership of Piedmont Heart Institute's Cardio-Obstetrics Service Line. She continues to serve as Co-Director of the Women's Heart Program and Director of Cardiac Obstetrics, advancing comprehensive care for women during pregnancy and across their cardiovascular lifespan. Dr. Sara Mobasseri Egoavil brings more than two decades of clinical expertise, academic leadership, and program development to her roles, with a career distinguished by her commitment to advancing women's heart health and structural cardiac imaging.
