Besides diagnosticwork in surgical and autopsy neuropathology, research centers on two areas: 1) clinicopathologicstudies of pituitary tumors with Dr. Pamela Freda (Professor of Medicine, CUMC)and 2) the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disease using human brain tissues.Regarding the latter, interest is particularly focused on the effects ofpathogenic Huntingtin repeat expansions on the human brain. This workrelies upon the thorough characterization of brains received at the New YorkBrain Bank and is supported by grants from the Hereditary Disease Foundationand Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
