About Rebecca T. Hahn, MD


Rebecca T. Hahn, MD, is a Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Chief Scientific Officer of the Echo Core Lab at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, and Director of Interventional Echocardiography at the Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Center. She received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed her residency in internal medicine, cardiology fellowship, and cardiology research fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital–Weill Cornell Medical Center.Dr. Hahn is an active member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American College of Cardiology. She has served on the Competency Management Committee and was a past Valvular Heart Disease Topic Coordinator for the Scientific Sessions Planning Committee. She has published over 250 articles on echocardiography and valvular heart disease.She has co-authored several guidelines from the American Society of Echocardiography, including:

  • Guidelines for Performing a Comprehensive Transesophageal Echocardiographic Examination
  • Recommendations for Noninvasive Evaluation of Native Valvular Regurgitation
  • Guidelines for the Evaluation of Valvular Regurgitation After Percutaneous Valve Repair or Replacement
  • Guidelines for the Use of Transesophageal Echocardiography to Assist with Surgical Decision-Making in the Operating Room
  • Recommended Standards for the Performance of Transesophageal Echocardiographic Screening for Structural Heart Intervention

Dr. Hahn serves on several Academic Research Consortium writing committees, including the Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC-3), Paravalvular Leak Academic Research Consortium, Mitral Valve Academic Research Consortium, and Tricuspid Valve Academic Research Consortium. She was the National Principal Investigator for the SCOUT Trial and is the National Co-Principal Investigator for the TRISCEND Pivotal Trial.
