About Purnema Madahar, MD, MS
Dr. Purnema Madahar is the Assistant Director of the Medical Intensive Care Units and the Medical Critical Care Services at Milstein Hospital, and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is a pulmonary intensivist, ECMO attending, and active member of the Center for Acute Respiratory Failure research group. Her current clinical research interests include identifying risk factors and associated outcomes in patients with acute respiratory failure and critical illness, clinical outcomes in patients supported with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and utilization of information technology to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Madahar is actively involved in several hospital-based committees related to improving quality of care for patients in the ICUs. She has been accepted to the NewYork-Presbyterian Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Academy for the 2022-2023 academic year, a highly competitive program that aims to cultivate physician leaders.
