About Osama El-Gabalawy, MD
Dr. Osama El-Gabalawy is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He currently practices in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP), where he cares for patients experiencing acute mental health crises. He earned his bachelor's in biology, master's in computer science, and medical degree all from Stanford University. He completed his psychiatry residency at Columbia University, where he served as chief resident during his final year. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in New York and California. His clinical work focuses on improving systems of care for individuals with severe mental illness. His academic interests include interventional psychiatry, digital mental health, suicide prevention, and equitable access to mental health care.
