About Michael A. Fremed, MD
Dr. Fremed is a general pediatric cardiologist and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he graduated with distinction in translational science. He went on to complete his residency and fellowship training at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he was awarded the Welton M. Gersony Research Award upon completion of his fellowship.
Dr. Fremed provides care for patients from birth to young adulthood for all forms of acquired and congenital cardiac conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Though he provides care for all forms of heart disease, his clinical and research areas of focus include exercise and sports cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, preventive cardiology and dyslipidemia, cardio-oncology and single ventricle heart disease. At NYP/Columbia, Dr. Fremed currently serves as the medical director of the Pediatric Cardiac Telerehabilitation Program as well as the co-director of the Single Ventricle Interstage Monitoring Program. He works closely with the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery and currently serves as the chair of the Webinar and Survey sub-committees in addition to co-chairing the Outcomes Working Group of the Global Coalition for Fitness and Congenital Heart Disease. His clinical practice is structured on the belief that strong, collaborative relationships and timely, effective communication with patients, families, and referring providers leads to the best possible outcomes.
