About Lisa Park, MD


Lisa Park, MD, is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Division Director of Comprehensive Ophthalmology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.Dr. Park received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at New York University and a fellowship in anterior segment and refractive surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. She joined the faculty at NYU, where she was Associate Director of Residency Training at NYU, mentoring over 70 residents and pioneering the use of virtual surgery simulation in residency training. During the same time, she served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Bellevue Hospital, where she was recognized by NYC Health & Hospitals as “Doctor of the Year” in 2007.Dr. Park joined Columbia's Department of Ophthalmology in 2017 and is a well-recognized cataract surgeon with a flourishing practice at Columbia's Robert Burch Family Eye Center near Lincoln Center. She is an expert in the latest surgical techniques, including femtosecond-laser assisted cataract surgery and the use of astigmatism and presbyopia correcting intraocular lens implants. She has been consistently recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctors since 2015, and Exceptional Women in Medicine since 2019. Dr. Park has published over 100 book chapters, journal articles and research abstracts, and she lectures nationally and internationally on complex cataract surgery techniques. Her research interest includes management of subluxated lenses in Marfan syndrome. Other interests include global ophthalmology, and Dr. Park travels regularly to East Africa to teach and perform humanitarian eye surgery in developing countries. She is Board Chair of Vision Care USA and a Board Member of the ASCRS Foundation, non-profit organizations dedicated to combating world blindness. In recognition of her efforts, she was inducted into the VP&S Academy of Public Service in 2020.Dr Park's philosophy is that no two eyes are the same, and she is dedicated to meeting each individual's visual needs.
