About Kasey B. Jackman, PhD, MPhil, MS, BS, BA, PMHNP-BC
Kasey Jackman, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who specializes in treating children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Jackman uses a holistic approach which includes diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, and prescribing medications. Dr. Jackman has a broad range of experience in various practice settings including outpatient clinics and inpatient hospitals.
Dr. Jackman earned a PhD from Columbia University School of Nursing. Dr. Jackman's program of research focuses on prevention and treatment of mental health disparities among sexual and gender minority people. Dr. Jackman's dissertation examining nonsuicidal self-injury among transgender people was awarded the Dissertation Excellence Award by the Columbia University School of Nursing. Dr. Jackman's research has been published in various peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Psychiatry Research, the Journal of Clinical Nursing, and LGBT Health. Dr. Jackman has presented work at regional, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Jackman is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Columbia University School of Nursing and the Director of Academic-Practice Partnerships, which includes overseeing a research fellowship program for clinical nurses in the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital system. Dr. Jackman is jointly appointed as a Nurse Researcher at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and consults and collaborates on nursing research in the hospital setting. Dr. Jackman is a faculty member of the Program for the Study of LGBT Health, a partnership between the Columbia School of Nursing, the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia Psychiatry.
