About Hannah E. Reed, MD


Dr. Reed is a Whitaker Developmental Neuropsychiatry Scholar at Columbia University, specializing in the assessment and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder. She is also involved in multiple research projects on early biomarkers for ASD. Dr. Reed has a longstanding interesting in helping children with developmental disorders. She attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, where she first began working with kids with autism as an ABA therapist. She also started a program to provide respite care to affected families. Dr. Reed graduated with honors and received the Hyman Meltzer Memorial Award. She completed her pre-medical studies at Johns Hopkins University and medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Dr. Reed then completed a combined residency and fellowship program in adult and child psychiatry at Yale University, where she served as co-chief resident during her fifth year.


Dr. Reed also has a faculty practice at CUCARD Manhattan, where she sees both children and adults with a wide range of concerns. She has extensive experience in the evaluation and treatment of autism spectrum disorder as well as anxiety disorders and mood disorders. She has particular expertise in young child evaluations, including gold-standard assessments such as ADOS. Following a thorough diagnostic work up, treatment plans are made in conjunction with the goals and needs of the family. Dr. Reed supports patients through individual and family therapy, referrals to subspecialty providers, identification of local support services, and medication management when appropriate.
