About Delphine S Taylor, MD


Delphine Taylor earned a history degree from Columbia College and worked as a journalist before attending P&S (Class of 1997). After residency in Internal Medicine/Primary Care at CUMC, she joined the Associates of Internal Medicine Practice in 2000 as a clinician-educator. She served as director of the primary care track of the internal medicine residency until July 2005, when she became course director of Clinical Practice I and II in the medical school. She is now course director of Foundations of Clinical Medicine—Seminars, which covers such topics as medical interviewing and the patient-doctor relationship, ethics and professionalism, sexuality, cultural competence, health promotion, health systems, substance abuse, and palliative care. She leads small groups in the Foundations course in the preclinical and clinical years and precepts for the Medicine Clerkship. She was awarded the Charles W. Bohmfalk award for Excellence in Teaching in the Pre-Clinical Years at P&S in 2007, named a fellow in the Glenda Garvey Teaching Academy in 2009, and given a teaching award for Outstanding Small Group Teaching by the P&S class of 2013. In addition to the topics in Foundations Seminars, her current scholarly interests include the impact of student self- reflection, collaboration and peer feedback on teamwork and professionalism.
