About David J. Roh, MD
Dr. Roh is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is an Attending Neurointensivist Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and joined as faculty in 2016. Prior to joining as faculty, Dr. Roh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and his medical degree from Rush Medical College. He completed Neurology Residency at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by Neurocritical Care fellowship training at NewYork-Presbyterian: Columbia and Cornell Medical Centers.
Dr. Roh is board certified in Neurology and Neurocritical Care, and he specializes in the treatment of neurological emergencies and critical illness in the Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Roh is a clinical/translational investigator and educator. He co-directs the Laboratory of Transfusion Biology, is a Physician Scientist MD/PhD Advisor Mentor for MD/PhD candidates at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and leads a translational research team whose focus is to develop novel laboratory diagnostic strategies and hemorrhage control/transfusion therapy approaches to improve clinical outcomes in patients who encounter life threatening bleeding and cognitive decline. His novel work at the intersection of laboratory/transfusion medicine and cerebrovascular disease has been recognized by the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), where he was selected as the recipient of the 2025 Innovative Research Award. His work is currently supported by the NIH (NINDS, NHLBI; Contact PI for the multicenter FIGHT-ICH study), the Department of Defense, and the National Blood Foundation. He currently serves as a senior advisor/council committee member for the American Heart Association (AHA) Hemorrhagic Stroke Science Committee and the AHA Stroke Council Committee, and has scientific roles with the multicenter NHLBI multicenter REDS (Recipient Epidemiologic and Donor Study) transfusion network and the FDA Office of Blood Research and Review.
