Cristina Fernandez, MD

Dr. Fernández received her MPH from the Yale School of Public Health, and her medical training at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons. She then completed her residency in pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and a primary care research fellowship in community health at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Dr. Fernández is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Chief of the Section of Newborn Medicine. In her clinical role, she cares for late preterm and term newborns in the Level 1 Newborn Nursery at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian. She also manages clinical research operations with the newborn nursery population. As an early stage physician-scientist, Dr. Fernández conducts patient-oriented research that focuses on the bio-behavioral mechanisms through which prenatal and early life food insecurity, diet quality, cardiometabolic health factors, and early relational health, influence early child feeding and growing.
