About Charalambia Louka, MD
Dr. Chara Louka is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She practices in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Room (CPEP), where she provides acute care to individuals with severe mental illness. She has experience in treating a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders, with specific interests in OCD, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and depression. Her work aims to destigmatize mental illness and increase access to mental healthcare using culturally-informed approaches, psychopharmacology, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Louka completed medical school at Weill Cornell Medicine and psychiatry residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she also served as chief resident. She is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry.
