About Alexandra Liu, PsyD


Alexandra Liu, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor of Medical Psychology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the PAU–Stanford PsyD Consortium in Palo Alto, California. She completed her predoctoral internship at the VA North Texas Health Care System and her postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

Dr. Liu specializes in evidence-based psychotherapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She works primarily with adults presenting a broad range of concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), stress and adjustment-related difficulties, and insomnia. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). She also has specialized expertise in trauma-focused treatments, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.

Dr. Liu's clinical experience spans diverse settings, including community mental health centers, Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers, and inpatient, residential, and outpatient hospital programs. She approaches her work from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspective.
