About Alexa M Choy, MD
Alexa Choy, MD is a gastroenterologist with expertise in benign esophageal and foregut disorders. She earned her medical degree from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then completed her internship, residency, and gastroenterology fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. During fellowship, she was recognized with the 2025 Academy of Clinical Excellence Rising Star Award, honoring trainees who exemplify clinical excellence, humanism, intellectual rigor, and leadership in medicine.
Dr. Choy received advanced training in esophageal motility and reflux disorders and has clinical expertise in achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and functional esophageal syndromes. She is skilled in high-resolution manometry, impedance-pH testing, and functional lumen imaging (FLIP), and is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with complex esophageal disorders.
