About Barry Kanner, MD
Dr. Barry Kanner is a board-certified radiologist with specialization in vascular and interventional radiology. He is an assistant professor of radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and an assistant attending radiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Kanner is the former director of interventional radiology at White Plains Hospital and division chief of interventional radiology at Westmed Medical Group.
Dr. Kanner's clinical expertise includes minimally invasive treatment of pain and bleeding caused by uterine fibroids using uterine fibroid embolization (UFE). He has been performing the UFE procedure for nearly 25 year, as well as image guided embolization for patients suffering from pelvic congestion syndrome or varicocele.
In addition to fibroid related disease and male infertility, Dr. Kanner has extensive experience in the establishment and maintenance of hemodialysis access, angioplasty and stent placement for peripheral vascular disease, image guided biopsy, IVC filter placement or retrieval, urologic procedures, and venous access for oncology patients.
Dr. Kanner completed his medical school training at New York University and his internship at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Manhattan. His post-graduate training includes a diagnostic radiology residency as well as fellowships in body imaging and vascular/interventional radiology at NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital.
He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.
