About Saurabh Kapoor, MD
Dr. Saurabh Kapoor is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He completed his cardiology training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and advanced subspecialty training in Heart Failure, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Transplant Cardiology at Hackensack University Medical Center and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey. Prior to joining the Columbia faculty, he served as Medical Director of Cardiac Transplantation at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.Dr. Kapoor's academic and clinical interests include heart transplantation, infiltrative cardiomyopathies such as amyloidosis and sarcoidosis, and both long-term and short-term mechanical circulatory support, including left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). His research focuses on the diagnosis and management of infiltrative cardiomyopathies, particularly transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy. He was involved in the landmark multicenter clinical trials evaluating novel therapeutics, including the Tafamidis (ATTR-ACT) and Acoramidis (ATTRibute-CM) studies.He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT). Dr. Kapoor is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
